Too busy for photos...

Last night when I got "scolded" for not updating the blog recently, I realized we have been so busy with the day to day stuff that I rarely am online for any amount of time AND we haven't captured much on film lately, things seem to happen too fast for the camera.

Haley has really settled into her role as the Big Sister and life seems more manageable now, we still have our moments of screaming babies, just last Friday night we had "big plans" to go out to dinner at the mall with the kids, which got quickly derailed when we didn't make a clean break out of the house during our special window. Take out from Wegmans was just fine instead.  Jalen has had a few longer stretches of sleep (4-5 hours) which makes me feel like less of a zombie during the day.

At his 2 month check up last he weighed 9 lbs. 5 oz (10th percentile) and was 23 inches long (25%).  All his reflexes and tone are great and the doctor said he looked perfect, I have to agree.

So, today I stumbled across the Blog we kept for Haley (it's apparently saved to our hard drive ;0) and I looked to see where Haley was around this age... If I didn't think bed rest paid off before I sure do now. Take a look:

Today, one week after discharge, we made the trip back to Strong for a follow- up appointment.  It was a bittersweet trip.  We are of course elated that this was just a quick visit and Haley is home with us, but it brought back the memories of the 59 days she spent there.  We also can’t help but think about some of Haley’s “friends” who are still in the NICU fighting to grow and be healthy.
Haley’s appointment went well. She is up to 4lbs 12 oz. so we are excited that she is thriving at home with us.  She is up to 18 inches in length and beginning to outgrow some of her preemie clothes that have feet.
The picture above is of Haley in her new swing, which she loves.  Both her bassinet and her swing have sound effects, and we have learned that the chirping birds are her favorite!

  1. Sara,

I came across your blog and was so happy to see that you have a happy and healthy family. So weird to think we all have husbands and babies. We are expecting our third baby in the fall. Loved looking at the pictures of your beautiful family. Angie (Dunn) Parchey
